Role Summary
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for a highly sought after Coordinator opportunity in the Strategy and Performance Office, within the Australian Federal Police. This role is based in Canberra.
Role Description & Responsibilities
As a leader, you are responsible for driving capability at the strategic level and developing collaborative internal and external relationships to enhance the AFP’s outcomes and reputation. You will be flexible and agile to achieve organisational objectives in an environment of ongoing change.
The Strategy & Performance Office (SPO) is focused on ideas, influence and insights, and maximises AFP operational impact by translating the agency’s strategic intent into whole-of-AFP activity. SPO plays a critical role in managing enterprise priorities, nurturing strategic thinking into reforms and resourcing, facilitating strong enterprise decision-making, and continuously improving outcomes for AFP.
**The Cabinet team is responsible for**:
facilitating and managing the development and lodgement of submissions and papers for Cabinet and its committees, particularly NSC and SCNS.
Providing advice and guidance to AFP Commands to inform their consideration of Cabinet matters.
Leading the development of high-quality briefing material, in consultation with AFP Commands, for the AFP Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners and Chief Operating Officer on matters for consideration by Cabinet and its Committees.
Convening pre-briefs and de-briefs with the AFP Commissioner and other senior executive, and providing advice and guidance to the AFP Commissioner as necessary during these briefings.
Leading the AFP’s engagement with Cabinet processes, delivering training to AFP Commands on Cabinet matters, and ensuring compliance with all Cabinet processes, including the management of classified material in a security and appropriate manner.
Essential Requirements
A demonstrated understanding of whole of government Cabinet processes would be highly desirable.
Ability to obtain a minimum Negative vetting 2 security clearance;
Relevant qualifications or extensive experience and knowledge relevant to the role;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Highly developed strategic thinking skills, relationship management and negotiation skills in support of strategic outcomes; and
Demonstrated ability to lead a high performing team.
