About the Role
Develop and effectively communicate high level strategic advice to tactically position the agency in a range of settings by assessing strategic issues and developing policy and research advice to enable quality executive decision making.
As Principal Policy Officer you will have responsibility for, but not be limited to:

- Lead the development of initiatives for the branch which incorporate strategy development, governance, strategic and operational planning, reporting, project and portfolio management, performance and risk management.
- Undertake research, scanning and synthesise complex concepts to inform the development of clear, user-friendly strategies, frameworks, policies and procedures that inform better practice, set the vision for education and lift capability.
- Coordinate the effective functioning of governance arrangements through the delivery of high quality secretariat services to management, enabling effective decision making and provision of advice.
- Lead and develop high-level briefings, reports and submissions, and make evidence informed recommendations to senior leaders on issues related to educational policy and governance at the strategic, tactical and operational level.
- Maintain a strong client focus by establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with departmental business units and stakeholder, negotiate effectively across government and with stakeholders, in the context of supporting the department's objectives and desired outcomes.
