Principal Policy Officer

**The Principal Policy Officer key responsibilities are**:
Undertake strategic research and analysis and prepare high level advice on relevant policy, legislation and systemic issues to assist the Director, Executive Director and Deputy Director-General to advise the Minister, Director-General, and senior management.
Lead strategic policy projects including the development of submissions, Cabinet submissions, Cabinet Budget Review Committee submissions and evaluation frameworks to enable Government to deliver its Child and Family policy agenda.
Research and advise on contemporary policy and legislative frameworks, based on evidence and best practice locally, nationally and internationally.
Prepare a range of written materials including briefing notes, memorandums for approval, project plans, correspondence, discussion papers and reports to a high standard.
Develop and maintain productive partnerships with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful codesign, consultation and negotiation on strategic policy and legislative matters.
Develop effective service system responses and represent the unit on committees and working groups.
Assist with the team's Cabinet and Parliamentary work program, consistent with Government commitments and directions set by the Minister and Director-General, meeting all deadlines and performance requirements.
