Community Support Worker

**Temporary part-time position**:

**About the role**:
This position will provide support and assistance for clients to undertake a range of activities and to facilitate community engagement, meeting the client's need for social contact and/or company to participate in community life. Services may be provided within the home, or while accessing community services. Activities may include but are not limited to food shopping, personal shopping, social activities and accompanying health appointments. This role will support some clients with Personal Care, Domestic Assistance and Respite care.

The Community Support Worker role sits within the Aged and Disability Services, which undertakes planning, policy, advocacy, partnership and service delivery roles in providing quality home and community support services for older people, people with a disability and their support and in the development of strategic plans for our older community. **Skills, experience and certificates**:

- **Certificate III Individual Support (formerly HACC III).**:

- **FIRST AID/CPR (or willing to obtain).**:

- **Must have a current driver's licence.**:

- **Own a safe and reliable car to undertake the Social Support Individual duties.**:

- **Extensive experience in working with challenging consumers and ability to relate to people with a variety of disabilities or age-related disorders.**:

- **Demonstrated understanding of the needs and issues facing older people, people with disabilities and their carers.**:

- **Ability to report where there is a variation in a consumer’s health, or Person-Centred Plan, or request for increased services.**:

- **Ability to carry out ongoing safety checks on households and to report any unsafe situations in a consumer’s home.**:

- **Ability to establish a working relationships with each consumer and to contribute towards enhancing their self-esteem and independence.
