**About Us**

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

**About the Role**

As the Registrar Office Manager, you will be responsible for all daily operational tasks including the management of all staff within the registry and ensure smooth operations in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

The role may be performed in a range of jurisdictional contexts, including Civil, Criminal, Family Violence, VoCAT, Diversion, as well as the Children's and Coroner's Courts and other jurisdictions (VCAT, County and Supreme Courts) as required.

The Registrar Office Manager operates within a complex, demanding and sensitive environment that requires the capacity to exercise sound judgement, liaise effectively with the Judiciary, senior officers of the courts and government departments and build relationships with key stakeholders.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Ensuring appropriate performance of all legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions relating to the day-to-day operations of the Court registry, under limited direction.
- Assist in monitoring the performance outputs of the Court and the demand pressures on its facilities and liaise with the Registries Manager in relation to the Court's resourcing requirements.
- Contribute to the development, evaluation and implementation of new policies and procedures that enhance the Court's operations, resource allocation and work organisation, to achieve the Court's strategic objectives.
- Manage work teams to ensure that staff attend professional development programs, are rotated to maximise their learning opportunities, knowledge and skills and are provided with regular feedback regarding their performance.
- Provide information and authoritative advice on court procedures, practices and protocols to all court users and represent the Court at forums and committees when required, to convey specialist concepts and policies.
- Prepare reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact on the Court.
- Assist in the supervision, security and maintenance of all court buildings and surrounds.
- Assist in and rotate through other sections of the Court as required.

**About You**
- Demonstrable experience in leading and mentoring a team with a strong focus on identifying and addressing capability gaps and developing skills to enhance performance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients to achieve organisational goals and outcomes.
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills that gain commitment from others to effectively resolve issue and conflicts.
- High level communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders at varying levels.
- Certificate IV in Government (Court Services) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legislation, practices, policies and procedures applicable to Victorian Courts and Tribunals_._
