The Children's Court of Victoria (ChCV) has jurisdiction under the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 to hear cases involving children and young people up to the age of 18 years, and in some cases up to 19 years. It has a Family Division and a Criminal Division and it sits at locations throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria
About the role
The Family Violence Registrar plays a critical role in coordinating the daily operation al response to family violence across all divisions of the ChCV. The position is responsible for coordinating the listing and hearing of intervention order proceedings as well as facilitating referrals to the Court's dedicated Family Violence Practitioners.
The Family Violence Registrar contributes to the Court's response to family violence, working alongside the judiciary, court registrars, support workers, police, legal services and other support services to effectively manage cases involving individuals experiencing and using family violence.
The position builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and works closely with the Family Vio lence Registrars in the Magistrates' Court of Victoria to promote consistency in practice across both jurisdictions whilst providing a point of specialist contact for judicial officers, registrars and stakeholders regarding the listing and hearing of intervention order proceedings in the Children's Court.
About you
The role forms part of the ChCV's Registry Management Team and, as such, the position requires someone with excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to work effectively within a complex, demanding and sensitive environment.
