Reporting to the Senior Registrar, the Registrar is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the registry, ensuring the effective listing and coordination of Mental Health Tribunal hearings, providing operational support and advice to the Senior Registrar and Principal Registrar. The Registrar's role is part of the Registry leadership team and assists the Senior Registrar with identifying operational solutions to issues, preparing reports, performance monitoring, learning and development, supporting the Senior Registrar implement projects and process improvements strategies
This role requires a highly organised individual who is a team player, committed to the highest level of client service, able to work under pressure and capable of giving guidance to a team of Senior Deputy Registrars, Deputy Registrars and Registry Officers with the day-to-day operational needs of the Tribunal's registry. The Registrar's role is critical within the Tribunal's Registry and enables the Principal Registrar to deliver the Tribunal's hearing schedule, list and organise Tribunal hearings, roster members, case manage complex matters - including preparing written briefs for members - and manage associated Tribunal records including the statutory register.
You will need advanced written skills, as well as problem-solving and analytical skills required to critically analyse system processes and identify issues and solutions to advise the Senior Registrar and Principal Registrar as required. The Registrar may be asked to act as a Senior Registrar from time to time.

Accountabilities
- Support the Senior Registrar to identify suitable training needs and professional development opportunities.
- Identify operational issues and assist Senior Registrars to develop and implement new precedents and principles.
- Assist the Senior Registrar with compliance and performance monitoring, reporting, quality assurance and maintenance of the Tribunal's statutory register by preparing reports to analyse hearing data.
- Ensure that all listings and coordination practices comply with the applicable legislation, policies and procedures.
- Complete case management for identified categories of complex matters.
- Recommending enhancements to operating policies, practices and systems.
- liaising and consulting with senior management and staff of the Tribunal to assist in the development of solutions to problems.
- providing accurate advice to a broad range of stakeholders, including consumers, carers, health service staff and Tribunal members.
- recording and managing cases requiring hearing, determinations and Orders of the Tribunal in accordance with legislative requirements and internal procedures.
- Assist in the development, evaluation and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures.
- Liaise and maintain constructive relationships with Tribunal members, mental health service staff and other stakeholders.
- Provide guidance to others in the work area regarding processes and systems.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
