**Experienced Disability Support Workers needed for NDIS participants on the Mornington Peninsula.**

Step As One Disability Services is seeking enthusiastic Disability Support Workers, (across the Mornington Peninsula Region) who have experience supporting people who have disabilities, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder, experience working with individuals who are non verbal communicators and have behaviour support plans in place.

As this role requires communication with NDIS participants who have cognitive disability and non verbal communication, ability to communicate clearly is a must.

Shifts on offer range from 3 hours in the morning (from 7am) and longer weekday shifts (including public holidays).

**Support Worker Position Description **(but not limited to):

- Support NDIS participants to engage in activities of daily living/self care and community access within the Mornington Peninsula area
- Work in accordance with Step As One Disability Services' medication administration policy, work health and safety procedures and participant right's policies including privacy and confidentiality.
- Monitor the safety and well-being of the participant
- Ensure completion of appropriate documentation such as participant progress notes, incident reports and goal attainment using the Client Management System.
- Work with directly with participants, family, relevant stakeholders and other professionals to support the participants NDIS goals
- Undertake relevant participant specific and mandatory training modules as required to maintain NDIS practice competency requirements
- Provide back up and support to other staff, as necessary.
- Take reasonable care for his or her own health and safety.
- Report any quality and safety incident or hazards at work immediately to the Practice Lead.
- Carry out their roles and responsibilities as detailed in the relevant policies and processes.

**Qualifications - preferred**
- Cert IV Disability, Community Services or similar or relevant tertiary qualifications
- Current NDISWC (or willingness to get)
- Working with Children Check.
- First Aid certificate and CPR (or willing to get)
- NDIS Workers Orientation (or willing to complete)
- Current Drivers license and fully comprehensive insurance
- Medication administration competency

**Competencies and experience**
- Experience working with young people or adults who present with complex disability who display behaviours of concern including aggression (mandatory)
- Genuine passion for the field of work (mandatory)
- Clear, fluent written and verbal English language skills (mandatory)
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal supervision (mandatory)
- Strong engagement, enthusiasm, resilience and self care(mandatory)
- Experience with medication administration (preferred)
- Understanding of Behaviour Support implementation and restrictive practices (mandatory)

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $40.00 - $44.00 per hour
