
Disability Support Worker

Main duties and tasks include but are not limited to:
- Provide support to people with mental health disabilities using a person-centred approach.
- Assist clients attending external appointments, recreational activities and accessing and utilising community resources (e.g., general medical care, shops, banks, etc.)
- Undertake personal administrative work for the clients, such as booking appointments, drafting financial budgets, Centrelink, paying bills, etc.
- Support the development & implementation of client NDIS goals including engaging with specialist services and other professionals as required.
- Transport clients into the community or external appointments.
- Identify risks as they emerge and proactively address new and known risks.
- Assist clients with meal preparation and different activities around their home environment.
- Assist with booking emergency accommodation.
- Going for a walk in the park and enjoying nature.
- Improving physical health by supporting them to attend a gym or exercising outdoors.
- Helping them to live independently by assisting with gardening or cleaning at home.
**Qualifications & experience**
- Experience working in the disability field
- An appropriate qualification is desirable or a willing to take on further studies
- Possess a or willing to undertake an NDIS Worker Screening
- A broad and relevant life experience
**To be successful in this position you will need**
- Great communication skills with a diverse range of people
- Be able to work autonomously
- Be able to work with people of differing abilities
- Be able to build strong supportive relationships with participants
- Have a calm, caring and proactive manner
- Must have drivers license and own vehicle
- Clear national Police Check
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination
- Smart phone
- Computer/Laptop
Licence/Certification:
- National Police Certificate (required)
- Driver Licence (required)
Work Authorisation:
- Australia (required)

Pay: From $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 - 16 per week
