**Position Information**:
Terrigal High School is a leading comprehensive, co-educational secondary school on the Central Coast. The school has a student population of 904, including a Support Unit with three multi-categorical classes. The school reflects the diversity of the local community with a full range of socio-economic and educational backgrounds. EALD support is provided to 2% of the total student enrolment. The school is located on Darkinjung land with 5% of the total student population identifying Aboriginal heritage. The school has a close partnership with the local Kuriwa AECG to enhance Aboriginal cultural and learning programs for all students. Terrigal High School has a high potential and gifted strategy which includes a targeted sports program and an exceptional creative and performing arts program. Student and staff achievements are regularly recognised through HSC showcase events.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability as Head Teacher Teaching and Learning to lead and evaluate whole school professional learning that creates a culture of high expectations and builds the capacity of staff to maximise individual outcomes for all.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use data analysis to plan, initiate and monitor whole school programs and initiatives that embed high expectations and strategies to improve the learning outcomes of all students.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in leading evidence-based teaching and learning programs and quality assessments designed to engage and support students varied learning needs.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to lead and engage a collaborative team, building positive, inclusive, trusting relationships with students, parents, staff, external agencies, and the wider community.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
