About the Role
The position is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to a designated work area to facilitate service delivery within the Health Service.
- Fulfil the accountabilities and responsibilities of this role in accordance with Metro South's purpose and objectives, as outlined below.
- Provide administrative relief for all types of leave to administrative positions including emergent leave.
- Provide high level of reception and administrative support to wards/units during periods of relief for bayside facilities.
- Monitor and maintain information/health records systems (both manual and computerised) for preparation of new records, file retrieval, filing, clinical reports and patient demographics.
- Effective operation of office equipment.
- Utilise keyboard skills and Word processing skills for correspondence, clinical reports etc and use of other relevant information/health record systems and software packages.
- Ensure all data is accurately entered into all systems.
- Contribute to revenue generation for organisation by fulfilling all tasks as per policy and procedure manuals.
- Attend departmental, team and administrative meetings when required.
- Ensure patients and staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
- Exercise judgement when necessary to solve immediate problems in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined.
- Manage workflows by determining priorities and precedents to ensure that work is finalised within required timeframes.
- Undertake secretarial functions such as coordinating appointments, dairy management, scheduling appointments and meetings, secretariat to meetings and any other administrative/secretariat support as required.
- Ensure patients and other staff are treated fairly and with mutual respect and understanding, regardless of cultural, religious, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
- Commit to patient safety and quality in the delivery of health care by actively participating in safety and quality practices.
- This position is a shift working position; applicants must be available to work all shifts on a 24 hour rotational roster. This includes evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays. Applicants unable to fulfil these requirements need not apply.
