**Communications Adviser - Engagement opportunity**

**About the role**

Government client seeks an experienced Communications Adviser with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement to join them on a short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 4 months based in Melbourne CBD with an immediate start.

As the Communications Adviser, you will develop and execute engagement and communications plans to support the delivery of a new online platform. You will provide quality advice and support to leaders, internal and external stakeholders, partners and project owners developing strategic engagement and communications plans to coordinate and lift engagement, supported by key messaging and proactive communications.

**Key duties**

Reporting directly into the Strategic Communications Manager your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

- Identifying specific audience cohorts likely to have difficulty using the new online platform
- Preparing and executing an engagement strategy, including an action plan, to reach those audiences
- Recommending optimal channels to directly deliver effective communications about the new platform transition
- Engaging with community leaders/stakeholders to reach audiences
- Tailoring content to meet the specific requirements of targeted audiences
- Delivering effective messaging to help them prepare for the transition

**Experience and Skills**

The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

- Experience in identifying, engaging with, understanding, and effectively communicating with diverse communities, is the key for this role
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with highly developed stakeholder management and organisational capability
- Proven track record of effective stakeholder engagement or community engagement, preferably in organisations within a government environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong network of influential stakeholder contacts
- High level analytical skills, with an ability to deal with complex matters and lead tasks as required.
- Advanced verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and form effective relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds

**Qualifications**
- Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field e.g. Communications, Community Engagement, Stakeholder Management, or a related discipline.
- Sound knowledge of and experience working within government and/or community engagement advisory organisations.
