**About the role**
As a Community Strengthening Officer, you will support local groups and organisations by administering and delivering programs that enhance engagement, volunteering, networking, and capacity building. Your role will involve facilitating grants, recognition initiatives, training, and partnerships to empower communities and respond to their evolving needs. You will contribute to key programs, including the Community Grants Program, Volunteer Recognition Program, and the Citizen of the Year Awards, ensuring meaningful community impact.
- Other responsibilities include:_
- Administer Council’s Community Grants and Awards Program in accordance with Council policy, procedures and guidelines
- Prepare and distribute a regular e-newsletter and other correspondence for Community and Economic Development with key information on current opportunities, initiatives and grants available
- Promote, administer and deliver the Community Awards event, Citizen of the Year Program, Volunteer and other Recognition Programs for Glen Eira City Council

You are a passionate and community-focused professional who thrives on building relationships and driving positive change. With strong communication and engagement skills, you work collaboratively to empower individuals and communities. Your ability to develop and implement impactful programs ensures meaningful outcomes for the community.
The following is also required:
- Relevant diploma or degree in Community or Economic Development or similar or lesser qualifications combined with other relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience working in the field of Community or Economic development, community grants or community services
