**The Sherwood** is an exciting brand-new Wests Group Macarthur hospitality venue, located in Leumeah and due to open later this year. This $20 million innovative and dynamic hospitality venue promises to become the premier entertainment destination in the Macarthur region. The Sherwood is envisioned be a social hub for everyone, with its welcoming and friendly staff, optimum sports viewing, live music, gaming and shared food and beverage concepts. A fresh and lively atmosphere and our exciting promotional schedules is what will set this venue apart.

This is a great opportunity to take the reins of this exciting new project during the building phase and help prepare the venue for opening, taking charge of recruitment, scheduling, training, financials and building an extraordinary culture in a venue that we believe will become an icon in our local community. Reporting to the Group Operations Manager, you will be able to run your own show, act with autonomy but have the departmental support from a passionate team of professionals when required. You will become the face of the venue to successfully open the doors and take this amazing establishment to where it should be.

Ideally, we are looking for a driven professional who is a true people person with experience leading a diverse team of chefs, waiters, baristas, bar, and gaming attendants and can manage relationships well with all levels of the business. You will be responsible for the daily operations and compliance of the venue and be supported in driving the service standards, membership, events, and overall revenue.

**Duties of this role include**:

- Instrumental in taking the lead in preparing for venue opening
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue, including food & beverage, gaming, finances, personnel, marketing, venue presentation and other administrative functions
- Ability to initiate ideas to enhance the customer experience, ensure optimum organisational performance and have oversight of future growth opportunities in line with the groups vision and purpose
- Actively driving and supporting a range of compliance and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to focus on outcomes not only for financial results, but also build strong relationships with all key stakeholders demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to positive outcomes for our local community
- Experience motivating, mentoring, and developing people to build organisational capability and growth
- Delivering best in class service and maximise potential of the venues 54 machine gaming installation
- Helping formulate and drive the venues financial & KPI targets

**The successful applicant will have**:

- Strategic, operational, financial, people management and sound decision-making skills are essential
- Previous venue management experience, preferably in a hotel or club environment with a history in effective leadership
- Entrepreneurial abilities with a track record in delivering outcomes including delivering quality services and a network of engaged stakeholders and members
- Understanding and experience in hospitality operations will be essential in this role
- Willingness to work weeknights and weekends to accommodate the needs of the job
- Full drivers’ licence and use of own car
- A relevant qualification in hospitality or business management is desirable or similar on the job acquired knowledge
