**The Role**
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the program and policy officer role will primarily have responsibility for managing a number of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs/projects, and will also have the opportunity to contribute to broader policy development and possible establishment of new or extended programs. The role will be focused on:

- Managing STEM programs and projects and the associated stakeholder relationships (internal and external); while ensuring all associated legislative and regulatory requirements are adhered to, including APS procurement and grant management requirements, privacy, and ICT security.
- Undertaking or contributing to the development of policy and strategy regarding STEM education in schools and the early years, including research and analysis, stakeholder consultation, preparing briefings, drafting New Policy Proposals (NPPs) and navigating associated Budget processes.
- Working collaboratively within a small sub-team, and across the broader STEM team to ensure all STEM in schools and the early years program and policy work is delivered to a high standard and that all team members build and maintain a strong working knowledge of the current STEM education landscape.

**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking individuals with the following skills and capabilities:

- Demonstrated experience in policy development and/or program/project management (including contract and grant management).
- Good judgement and prioritisation skills.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated capacity to deliver on required outcomes to a high standard, including under tight timeframes.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate uncertainty and evolving priorities.
