This NSW state government organisation is seeking a water quality analyst for an initial 6 month contract with a view to extend.

**Your new role**
- Perform routine and non-routine collection and/or analyses of samples from a variety of environments..
- Perform sampling or analytical roles, as appropriate to the business area and depending on the team the employee is assigned to.
- Routine chemical or biological analysis of water and wastewater products in accordance with procedures
- Operate field and laboratory instruments and equipment in accordance with training and instruction
- Identify problems and undertake problem solving appropriate to level
- Check relevant data entry for accuracy, report unusual results and issues immediately to a Supervisor, Team Leader or Manager
- Ability and willingness to learn new tasks, methods, instruments and equipment, as appropriate
- Work cooperatively with team members to ensure customer requirements are met and operations are efficient
- Carry out internal audits as required and in accordance with training provided

**What you'll need to succeed***
- A relevant tertiary qualification (Degree and/or Certificate in Science)
- Minimum two-year experience within a related scientific discipline
- Awareness of safety requirements related to the role and ability to demonstrate personal responsibility for safety
- Ability to use computers and tablets and associated software, including LabWare, Microsoft Windows and Office
- Ability to learn computer software packages used within a laboratory or field sampling environment (e.g. lab information system, scheduling software)
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills

**What you'll get in return***
