Experienced Environmental Site Surveillance Officer required to assist on a one year assignment to assist our state government client in the Rail Industry

PERSOLKELLY is currently looking for an Environmental Site Surveillance Officer for our State Government client in the rail industry.

**Length of Casual Assignment**: One Year with a possibility of extension

**About the Responsibilities**:

- The Environmental Site Surveillance Officer is responsible for managing routine construction surveillance activities and to assist the director and team members in surveillance activities on nominated contract works to meet technical and quality requirements to provide assurance for the administration of rail, road and civil building construction and maintenance projects to ensure safe delivery in accordance with the quality, scope, and deadline.
- Providing staff with a safe workplace where risks are identified
- Monitoring and reporting of all onsite activities across a broad range of projects
- Maintaining a diary of observations and elevate to project managers and engineers as required.
- Coordinating and ensuring site access is carried out in accordance with the relevant contract documentation and department's policy.
- Conduct routine safety and environmental management and risk assessments and safe work method statement reviews to ensure that work is completed in a safe and environmentally acceptable manner
- Participate in the assessment of contract documentation such as: Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS); Environmental Management Plans (EMP); Environmental Work Method Statements; Traffic Management Plans (TMP); Traffic Control Plans (TCP), and other planning documentation to ensure that contract documentation is accurate and robust.
- Engage with MTM Asset Management and Infrastructure teams on environmental
- performance, progress, and quality to ensure seamless handover of the asset at the completion of the Project.

**Experience and Qualification required**:

- Sound understanding of the department's standards, operating procedures, Rail Safety Act 2006 (Vic)
- Qualifications (or equivalent level experience) in environment, OH&S, engineering, construction or similar
- An engineering qualification and/or 5+ years in building/construction in a road / rail environment
- Experience in construction management with respect to safety, environment, quality & risk.

**Desirable**:

- Experience as a supervisor, within a greenfields or brownfields environment.
- OH&S and environmental supervisory level qualifications.
