The Community and City Services Division puts people, families and community at the forefront of our work. The Health Team within the Community Wellbeing branch aims to protect the wellbeing of all those living, working and visiting the City of Melbourne by minimising public and environmental health risks.
The Environmental Health Officer (EHO) works as part of a team, being one of three regulatory teams in Health. The regulatory teams comprises of a Team Leader, Senior Environmental Health Officers, Environmental Health Officers and an Environmental Health Technician. The Environmental Health Officer (EHO) is responsible for maintaining a high standard of customer service in public and environmental health while also performing the duties of an authorised officer under the Food Act 1984 and the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.
The Environmental Health Officer (EHO) will also deliver on the following;
- Compliance assessments, inspections, investigating consumer complaints, undertaking food and water sampling and assessment of food safety programs and their compliance.
- Maintain an appropriate and up to date record of all assessments, inspections and daily work activities performed.
- Implement, as directed, relevant Council programs and policies in accordance with the objectives, principles and functions of all relevant legislation.
- Maintain a sound, efficient and up to date knowledge of corporate policies and strategic plans, and of all relevant legislation and statutory requirements
- Provide information and advice to key stakeholders in relation to administration of legislative requirements and carry out any other duties as lawfully directed by the Chief Health Officer of the Department of Health.
**Selection Criteria**

- Proven ability to work in a time pressured environment, meeting multiple deadlines with a high level of initiative, motivation and innovation.
- Possession of a current, full Victorian driver’s license.
Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent including eligibility to be a member of Environmental Health Australia.
