**About Your Role**

**As Health, Safety and Environment Partner **, the role is part of an effective and dynamic HSE business partnering team supporting both Defence and our commercial customers at the Garden Island naval base in Sydney.

The role is part of a highly inclusive workplace and supported by an engaged leadership team committed to safety transformation; you will be working in a large-scale multi-national organisation that will offer you exciting challenges in a complex, high risk, multi-faceted work environment where you can make a real difference in how WHS and protection of the environment are executed in the marine environment. The role has exposure to our dock operations, vessel in service support activities, large on base workshops, major vessel refits and refurbishments (high risk construction work) and other associated defence support activities delivered through a combination of self-perform and subcontractor work teams.

As part of a diverse and experienced team, you will support our Above Water Systems business line as you go beyond compliance to inspire, guide, coach and mentor others in all aspects of health, safety and environment.

- Coaching and mentoring our teams in embedding HSE as key operating discipline
- Acting as a role model in demonstrating full support for all health, safety, and environmental programs
- Supporting our leadership team providing specialist support and advice
- Leading workplace inspections, risk assessments, investigations, audits and identifying hazards
- Working with our teams to assure adherence to the HSE SMS across our operations and that teams are aligned in addressing their HSE risk

**How About You?**
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS with a minimum of a Diploma of WHS, more advanced qualifications in Health, Safety or Environment would be highly regarded.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Health, Safety and Environment roles as an active safety partner in a high risk work environment.
- Current and demonstrated knowledge of relevant HSE compliance and regulatory frameworks coupled with a passion for your profession
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to influence diverse stakeholder groups
- Team player with an attention to detail and well-developed problem solving capabilities
- Maritime experience is not necessary but experience in a similar high-risk/ complex environment will be highly regarded (Defence, Mining, Construction or similar)
- Certification with the AIHS at practitioner or professional level will be highly regarded
