**About the role & duties involved**:

- Provide technical support and administrative support to the Waste Services operations team by undertaking research and investigations around waste management practices, contractual arrangements, landfill licensing and environmental compliance
- Provide assistance to the Waste Management team and the Head of Environment and Sustainability (HoES) and Resource Recovery Lead (RRL) with budget input and contractor management
- To develop in conjunction with Circular Economy Education Officer, educational material for the waste management issues and provide solutions to sustainability strategies
- To assist with compliance of the services with all relevant legislation and policies in particular, the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007
- Develop project/contractor briefs and technical support including assisting with the completion of project/contractor documentation and specifications, invoice approval and records management requirements

**To be considered for this role, you will have**:

- Extensive understanding of waste related regulations, including but not limited to, the Environmental Protection Act 1986 and the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007
- Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of best practice waste management techniques, around Collections and Landfill management
- Sound knowledge of compliance and reporting requirements in relation to waste management facilities, including landfill sites
- A tertiary qualification relevant to the waste management field or similar demonstrated
- working experience in waste management field is desirable
- Comprehensive experience in waste management operations
- collection, disposal and minimisation
- Knowledge of waste management practices and existing/proposed waste disposal regulations
- Experience in contract administration
- Demonstrated experience in providing a high level of customer service to the public and other staff
- Sound investigation/research techniques
- Sound ability to write clear and concise technical specifications
- Sound working knowledge of contractor management
- Working knowledge of tender preparation and assessment, cost control, estimating and budgeting processes
- Construction Induction Card - essential
- Police clearance
- Willing to undergo pre employment test
