**The Position**

St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) seeks to appoint a dynamic, collaborative and innovative Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). As the health service continues to grow in size and scope, the CNO will provide clinical leadership directly to all nursing staff and indirectly to all staff fostering a culture that values excellence in patient care and supports an environment of safety, continuous improvement and professional development.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and based at the Fitzroy campus, the CNO will oversee the Nurse Workforce Unit which includes Education and Learning as well as the Nursing Executive Team and will champion research and improvement activities undertaken in collaboration with Australian Catholic University. A key element of the position will be to develop a skilled and sustainable nursing workforce, one that supports the organisation’s expanding services and evolving needs. Maintaining nursing clinical standards, professional conduct and leadership development is also a key element of the position.

**The Organisation**

St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is a private not-for profit provider of public tertiary health services. Over 7,000 dedicated staff work across 16 sites to provide a range of services, including acute medical and surgical services, emergency and critical care, aged care, diagnostics, rehabilitation, allied health, mental health, palliative care and residential care. SVHM works work with a vast network of collaborative partners to deliver high quality treatment, teaching, education and research.

SVHM is part of the St Vincent’s Health Australia which is Australia’s largest not-for-profit health and aged care provider. It is part of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries which has a rich heritage of providing services to all people, especially those who are poor, marginalised and vulnerable.
