Your career within our engineering group is part of the Waratah Steel Manufacturing plant which manages and executes capital and manufacturing projects to support the businesses growth strategy. While leading the businesses growth from concept through to capital approval, engineering and final hand-over, your Molycop career will bring your strong management skills within engineering and manufacturing, the ability to work with major (internal and external) stakeholders of the Molycop business, and development opportunities.
**_The Role_**
Working closely with our Manufacturing and Sales Managers to develop long-term capital portfolios, product quality competitiveness and create projects with cost and productivity business benefits, this exciting role will see you being responsible for:
- Leadership:
- Leading the Engineering areas and actively implementing the associated business plan tasks, including: input manufacturing business plan requirements and annual budgets
- Providing clear leadership direction to create and maintain an environment where employees achieve the business objectives
- Set and maintain standards of personal behaviour that reinforces effective working relationships throughout the organisation
- Model effective team leadership skills through effective task assignment, monitoring, coaching and reviewing processes
- Planning and Scheduling:
- Take an active role in understanding the implementation and strategic initiatives of supply chain management, including Customer and market insights
- Work with managers to refine and develop new methods of better meeting customer needs
- People Accountabilities
- Contribute to the development, communication and deployment of the Grinding Media and Rail Products business plan, and strategic initiatives
- Model the expected behaviours to support Molycop’s core values of safety
- Practice effective team leadership skills to build capability and promote teamwork
**_About you_**
This role will require your displayed background in effective leadership behaviours to build teamwork and organisational capability, with your work history comprising of the following abilities, skills and qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering
- Post Graduate Qualifications relating to Project Management and/ or Engineering
- Minimum of 15 years heavy industrial experience
- Past management experience in maintenance and manufacturing
- Experience in safety management systems and methodologies
- Background in commercial dealings
- Exposure to maintenance strategy methodologies such as RCM
- Member of the Institute of Engineers, Australia

Molycop has a global manufacturing and sales network with grinding media manufacturing facilities located close to customers’ operations in key mining regions of North and South America and Australasia. Grinding media is predominantly used in the copper, gold and iron ore mineral extraction process. In Newcastle we make low-carbon steel and are at the forefront of sustainable manufacturing globally. We employ electric arc furnace steelmaking technology utilising raw materials with more than 90% recycled content and have built a long-term partnership with UNSW SMaRT Research Centre to commercialise innovative recycling technologies.
Whilst internationally Molycop has over 1800 employees, in Australia we have around 600 employees based in Newcastle (Waratah NSW), Cootamundra (NSW) and Bassendean (WA).
