With Fire Safety Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to use your knowledge and skills in creative ways.
As a Graduate or Junior Fire Safety Engineering Consultant, you will proactively support senior engineers with the preparation of fire engineered performance solutions for a range of building types including residential, commercial, retail, aged care, hospitals, theatres, galleries, and industrial developments. You will learn fire engineering principles and science to evaluate compliance with the National Construction Code through means of mathematical calculations, computational modelling, and literature reviews.
Your Typical Day- Be part of the Newcastle team reviewing plans, researching literature on fire science, and drafting reports with the assistance of senior engineers.
- Assist with internal reviews of Building Code of Australia, passive fire protection and dangerous good reports.
- Develop computational fluid dynamic smoke movement and occupant evacuation models using bespoke fire engineering software.
- Attend site inspections with senior engineers to document the fire engineered controls specified for projects.
- Collaborate on team meetings, continual development points opportunities and be part of a cohesive working environment.

- A bachelor's degree in engineering (aeronautical, chemical, civil, Electrical, mechanical, structural, etc.).
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Be self-motivated, able to work autonomously and within a team environment.
- An ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
- A high degree of professionalism.
- A desire to undertake training and develop a career in fire safety engineering.
- An ability and willingness to embrace new technologies and learn computational fire engineering software.
- Must have a NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
- Completion or currently enrolled in post graduate studies in fire safety engineering at UQ or WSU.
- Experience in fire safety engineering programs and calculations (e.g., FDS, Pyrosim, Pathfinder, etc.).
- Understanding of the National Construction Code, NSW Legislation and Fire Rescue NSW operations.
- Exposure to on-site operations procedures and inspections.
