**How will I help?**
Reporting to the GM, Business Controls and Monitoring (BCM), Corporate Services you will be an integral part of the leadership team implementing and managing 1 st line risk management. You will be responsible for driving and supporting consistent implementation and embedding of risk management across Corporate Services and the Finance Enterprise function.
This is a distinctive opportunity to take ownership of developing and maintaining risk management in Finance, through the Financial Control Framework, and to further facilitate the building of a strong risk culture in Finance. You will lead an on and offshore team of 1st line risk Finance Business Controls and Monitoring professionals to support Finance’s risk management, compliance, prudential and processes in accordance with Westpac Frameworks, Policies and Standards. As an Operational Risk domain expert, your remit will include assisting the Finance division in the identification, assessment and resolution of risk and control issues.
Your leadership role will require you to engage with key Finance stakeholders at executive level, as well as attend and report to risk committees. You will be required to maintain strong working relationships with other Risk and Compliance teams, divisional Finance teams and Finance project teams to meet the business objectives.

**What do I need?**
To be set up for success in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Proven ability to successfully lead a team in a Finance Control Environment with regard to risks, controls and obligations;
- experience and understanding of the banking industry in Australia and globally to provide insights on future trends that may impact the Finance Risk Profile;
- proven experience in executing and delivering projects aligned with regulatory change;
- thorough working knowledge of finance, accounting, and regulatory issues related to Sarbanes Oxley requirements (SOx);
- minimum tertiary qualification in Finance or related discipline;
- strong influencing and negotiating skills and a track record of delivering on strategic priorities;
- ability to innovate and think outside the square, solving complex issues;
- extensive experience working across business groups to deliver consistent outcomes;and
- strong written and verbal communication skills including engagement with C-suite.
