**About the role**
- This exciting ongoing role will report to the Claims Portfolio Manager (Medical Indemnity) in Risk, Insurance and Claims Solutions Division. You will be responsible for end-to-end management of a portfolio of medical indemnity claims and will manage all aspects of the claims process and assist client through the claims experience.

**Key responsibilities**
- Manage service providers and ensure quality of service provision, assess recommendations and retain responsibility for all claim's decisions including appropriate file strategy.
- You act quickly and efficiently to ensure indemnified claims are resolved to assist clients recover from harm.
- You raise reserves and settle claims within your delegated authority, adhere to the Claims Management Manual and comply agreed standards and processes and escalate matters as appropriate.
- You build and maintain effective relationships with clients that maximise the client claims experience. You influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
- Actively participate in mediations and other formal and informal settlement forums and lead settlement discussions.
- Contribute to innovation and development of products, appropriate coverage, and claims response by identifying trends within the portfolio and working with Underwriters and Risk Advisors to optimise the treatment of risk.

**Who you work with**
- Work closely with the Head of Claims Practice, Head of Claims Strategy, Claims Portfolio Manager - Medical Indemnity and Claims peers to actively contribute to the development of new and existing claims services, practices, and products to build value to clients.
- Work across VMIA including Underwriters and Risk Advisors to optimise service and product offerings.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with third party service providers to obtain optimum claims resolution and manage recovery opportunities.

**What we are looking for**
- Have a proven track record of successful administration of medical indemnity and personal injury claims.
- Proven history of high-quality client and customer service and are empathetic to client needs.
- Highly demonstrated analytical skills and insurance industry acumen.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Sound computer literacy skills and experience using Claims Management IT systems, ability to analyse data and trends.
- Resilient with the ability to work under pressure and manage and resolve conflict in a timely and effective manner.
- You understand the complexities and nuances of public sector management, with the capacity to operate successfully in such an environment.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum 3 year's medical indemnity, personal injury, public liability, and professional indemnity claims management experience.
- Associate/Fellow o f the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (Desirable).
- Post-secondary qualifications in a related discipline (Desirable).
