ROLE

Kennedys is seeking a Senior Associate to join our busy Insurance practice in our expanding Melbourne office.

Reporting to Partner Mark Attard and working as part of our broader Insurance team, this role offers you the opportunity to work across a diverse professional indemnity portfolio. You'll handle construction professional indemnity matters alongside financial lines work, providing coverage advice and litigation support across the construction, financial services and professional services sectors.

This varied role encompasses high-quality litigated matters including coverage disputes, professional negligence claims, regulatory investigations and inquiries work. You'll act for a prestigious client base of local insurers and London market syndicates, with full carriage of proceedings in the Federal Court, Supreme Court and various tribunals.

TEAM

Our thriving Melbourne Insurance team is led by four prominent Partners: Nicole Wearne, Mark Attard, Ganga Narayanan and Emily Schneider, who foster an inclusive, collaborative culture focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.

You'll be supported by an experienced team of Special Counsel, Senior Associates, Associates, Paralegals and Legal Secretaries, providing you with the platform to excel in this fast-paced insurance litigation environment.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- 5+ years PQE with insurance litigation experience

- A strong background in construction professional indemnity and general professional indemnity matters

- Coverage experience acting for insurers is advantageous

- Methodical and organised approach to file management across multiple matters

- Leadership abilities with a genuine interest in mentoring junior lawyers

- Excellent time management, organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail

- High level of professionalism, integrity and ethical standards
