**About the Role**

As part of a collaborative, multi-institutional initiative, this role offers opportunities for impactful research, professional development, and engagement across various projects focused on the intersection of weather systems and climate change.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Significantly contribute towards the research effort of the Centre Project: Weather Systems in a Warmer World, developing your research expertise with an increasing degree of autonomy.
- Under the guidance and support of Centre staff conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals.
- Contribute to scientific mentoring and supervision of research students.
- Engage with relevant Centre partners and stakeholders to foster collaborations and dissemination of research outcomes.
- Actively participate in research seminars and conferences to disseminate research findings as opportunities arise.

**Who We Are Looking For**
You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling you to collaborate positively within research-based teams and liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders. Your strong problem-solving abilities and innovative approach to scientific challenges are complemented by outstanding organisational skills, ensuring you can meet deadlines and complete projects efficiently.

You will also have:

- Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in Atmospheric Science or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of meteorology, atmospheric dynamics, and climate processes.
- Strong computational skills in a programming environment such as Python.
- Demonstrated capacity to publish in high quality peer reviewed journals.

The School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences synergizes discipline strengths in geography, atmospheric science and geoscience. The School offers undergraduate and graduate research programs in these core discipline areas, and in the multi-disciplinary fields of Climate Change, Environmental Science and Archaeological Science.
