**Position Information**:
Mayfield East Public School is a dynamic school situated approximately 6km from Newcastle. Established in 1858, it has a long and proud tradition of strong community support, with an active and supportive Parents and Citizens’ Association. The school nurtures a sense of belonging and involvement, where success across academic, social and emotional arenas is celebrated, and the school is proud of the wide range of extra-curricular and cultural activities offered to students to broaden their horizons.
Currently the school has an enrolment of 317 students, of which 10% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 11% have a language background other than English. The staff is a mix of early career and highly experienced teachers, all with a wide range of skills, and both staff and parents hold high expectations for their students.
The school is committed to building consistent, high quality educational practices using evidence-based research to prepare student to be active and successful citizens. The school focuses on nurturing individual growth and potential. There is a strong focus on sustainability through our kitchen garden program.
Mayfield East Public School is a proud member of Callaghan Education Pathways and the Callaghan Local AECG; they work collaboratively with their learning community to maximise opportunities for their students.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. Demonstrated capacity to embed successful curriculum reform and support staff to excel through a culture of collaboration, trust and respect.
2. Demonstrated commitment to holistic child development and equity through a comprehensive range of curriculum offerings that prioritise not only academic excellence but also the provision of diverse and enriching extracurricular opportunities.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
