Operations Support Manager

UGL's Manufacturing & Maintenance division offers a great opportunity for an experienced Operations Support Manager to be part of the leadership team and support our Newcastle Operations based work.

Based at Broadmeadow, Newcastle, this role will provide leadership and accountability for warehousing, materials distribution, and facilities management to ensure profit centres can deliver their production targets safely and efficiently. This position is a champion for safety and a key advisor for the Senior Operations Manager, Business Managers and Production Delivery Managers. This role involves frontline interaction with planning teams, production teams, supply chain, other UGL sites and, at times, directly with customers.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead Warehousing and Facilities Management teams to enable Business Areas to deliver or exceed profit centre performance targets.
- Champion and enforce health and safety practices.
- Ensure materials are controlled and managed in accordance with UGL policies and procedures and support Area Businesses in meeting their production targets.
- Ensure site facilities are safe, meet compliance requirements and support Area Businesses in meeting their production targets.
- Guide and mentor Business Area planning teams to develop and improve competency and production outcomes.
- Ensure maintenance and warehouse performance metrics are measured and discussed on a weekly basis.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety and quality, increase productivity and/or reduce costs.

**About you**
- Tertiary education or Trade qualification with front line management, production management and/or an Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in warehousing, materials management and/or plant maintenance.
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
- Experienced gained in the rail, automotive, military, Defence, avionics, or any other safety critical environment.
- Excellent customer relationship and people management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
- Experience with Quality Management systems and leading Quality Management teams is desirable
