Independent Disability Services (IDS) is an NDIS, TAC, and WorkSafe-approved Not-For-Profit organisation that delivers disability support services to clients across Greater Melbourne.

**About the Role**
The IDS Board is seeking Directors with a broad range of skills including Marketing, Communications, Digital Transformation, Legal, Governance, Strategic Planning.
IDS Inc. operates a skills-based board with each director bringing different skills that benefit the organisation at that point in time. The current board comprises six directors. IDS has undertaken a gap analysis on board skills and is seeking additional directors to complement the current Board to support our strategic goals.
**Responsibilities**
- Oversee the development and continuous improvement of HR documentation and HR systems including staff record-keeping, position descriptions, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant workplace legislation, OHS regulations, and NDIS Commission standards
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the evolving disability sector in which IDS operates, with a particular focus on HR/IR considerations as the organization navigates the change
- Working within the Senior Management team by providing high-level and up-to-date advice and communications to manage People and Cultural matters to ensure compliance with relevant workplace legislation
- Plan, develop, and implement the full spectrum of the employee journey with IDS from onboarding through to offboarding including, but not limited to
- Ensuring induction and orientation programs are developed and delivered for all employees
- Developing and implementing a performance review system
- Managing WorkCover obligations including support of injured staff and Return To Work planning
- Monitoring the Employee Assistance Program and its effectiveness and review
- Assist the IDS Leadership Team in maintaining strong engagement across both office and remote workforce
**Commitments**
All meetings are held on a weekday during business hours, via a hybrid model of online and face-to-face meetings. The board meets 8 times per annum plus an annual Strategy day. It is anticipated the successful applicant will also participate in one of several sub committees; these are as follows: Executive, Finance, Risk & Audit, Governance and Client and Carers Engagement Group.
**What we need**
**Experience, Abilities, and Skills**
- Knowledge and/or experience with the NDIS
- Experience in a broad range of industry sectors and their associated networks
- Has completed the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) company directors’ course or prior Board experience and leadership capabilities
- Experience with the Disability sector including Lived experience.
**In addition to the above list all staff of IDS needs to comply with the following Mandatory Requirements**:
- National Criminal History Check
- Working with Children Check
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- NDIS Screening Check
