**About Your Role**:
Reporting to the Executive General Manager Business Services, the role has 6 direct and 29 indirect reports and is responsible for Group Procurement across Australia and New Zealand businesses. Downer’s purpose is to create and sustain the modern environment by building trusted relationships with our customers. In support of this, the purpose of the Group General Manager of Procurement and Strategic Sourcing is to:

- Ensure Value for Money
- Ensure Governance Requirements are met
- Streamline Procurement Processes
- Deliver on Social and Sustainable Procurement Goals

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Embed a best practice strategic procurement organisation, with specific focus on uplifting the organisations procurement and supply management capability and fostering a procurement community
- Implement the procurement strategy and policy: liaising with senior management to adapt to strategic objectives, carrying out business intelligence, identifying the needs of the various departments, etc
- Lead procurement teams including: Sustainable Procurement, Project Procurement, Property Services, Category Management Strategic Sourcing
- Senior stakeholder engagement across a large and complex company structure in Australia and New Zealand
- Balancing business unit requirements against Downer requirements and benefits
- Positioning sustainable procurement practices across a large and complex company structure
- Improve policies and standards with effective procurement processes and procedures to ensure that the needs of the business are managed in accordance with Procurement Framework
- Manage a high calibre team of strong talent, supporting growth opportunities and learning
- Participate in negotiations as require and supporting staff on sensitive or strategic issues, monitoring framework agreements, etc. Sponsor purchasing projects and oversee the implementation

**About You**:

- Tertiary Qualified in a Business/Commercial related degree or equivalent industry experience
- Member of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or supplier domain related qualification (advantageous)
- Available to travel interstate (on a monthly basis, depending on location)
- Minimum 10+ years relevant experience in operational or functional line, ideally with senior management, leadership and strategic responsibilities
- Proven history incorporating practical experience in procurement with specific emphasis on Sustainability, Procurement transformational programs & services and Strategic Sourcing process.
- Experience in engagement, leadership & strategy of procurement and sourcing; an understanding of operations & where procurement fits in an organisation
- Excellent presentation and influencing skills
- Strong leadership & stakeholder relationship skills; Ability to manage cross functional teams and a variety of stakeholder groups
