**About the role**

Reporting to the Purchasing Superintendent, the Purchasing Officer provides cost effective and timely procurement and delivery of materials, services and consumables to the business to ensure works are completed safely, within budgeted time and cost restraints.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Efficiently procure goods and services required by the business, promoting value driven outcomes
- Expedite ordered goods to ensure they arrive within the agreed timeframe and escalate where deliveries are late
- Ensure the data contained in Purchase Orders is accurate and to an acceptable standard
- Guide end users in the correct use of the company P2P system to promote effective Purchase Order creation
- Ensure banned / un-authorised items are not procured
- Develop effective working relationships with end users to promote high levels of customer service
- Resolve transactional purchasing queries in a timely manner
- Effectively communicate with the Strategic team to identify and promote compliance with contracted items
- Develop effective working relationships with vendors to promote high service levels
- Ensure the appropriate governance is applied to all purchasing activities
- Identify opportunities for improvement and promote a continuous improvement culture
- Assist Accounts Payable where required to resolve invoice queries
- Participate in after-hours support for urgent business requirements

**What you’ll bring to the team**
- Experienced and understanding of Purchasing ERP systems
- Proficiency Microsoft Office 365
- Previous purchasing experience in a similar role
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proactive approach with strong organisational skills
- Excellent communication & attention to detail
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Ability to perceive and analyse problems, develop alternatives and present solutions
