**About the role**

The **Purchasing Officer **will provide cost effective and timely procurement and delivery of materials, services and consumables to the business to ensure works are completed safely, within budgeted time and cost restraints. The Purchasing Officer will manage complex sourcing requirements in the execution of their duties. Additionally, the Purchasing Officer will guide users in the correct use of the P2P system and expedite purchase orders.

**In this position you will be responsible for**:

- Coordinating the purchasing requirements for the businesses processing plant requirements
- Efficiently procure goods and services required by the business, promoting value driven outcomes
- Manage complex sourcing requirements and address technical queries as required
- Mentor other team members in the execution of their duties
- Expedite ordered goods to ensure they arrive within the agreed timeframe and escalate where deliveries are late
- Guide end users in the correct use of the company P2P system to promote effective purchase order creation
- Ensure banned / un-authorised items are not procured
- Resolve transactional purchasing queries in a timely manner
- Effectively communicate with the Strategic team to identify and promote compliance with contracted items
- Ensure the appropriate governance is applied to all purchasing activities
- Identify opportunities for improvement and promote a continuous improvement culture
- Assist Accounts Payable where required to resolve invoice queries
- Participate in after-hours support for urgent business requirements

**What you’ll bring to the team**
- Previous purchasing experience in processing minerals plants
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Microsoft software packages and ERP systems - purchasing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel, Word & the Internet
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Proactive approach with strong organisational skills
- Ability to perceive and analyse problems, develop alternatives, and present solutions
