**Job Overview**:
We are searching for a Driver Trainer/Compliance Officer to ensure co-ordination of all infield compliance activities including Chain of Responsibility, Verification of Competency, and other Driver Training activities are performed and updated continuously to manage up to 25 drivers at our site in Laverton north. In this role, the incumbent will train and assess across a variety of different vehicles, and as well as conducting risk assessments on site and customer sites. Atlas Waste Management is wanting to invest in this role and is willing to train the successful applicant. This role is largely autonomous, allowing you to really own the Driver Trainer responsibilities and accountabilities in full and health and safety for all staff. Reporting to the General Manager, this role will develop, implement, and monitor best practice policies and procedures to enable Atlas to effectively increase their overall level of compliance.
As the Driver Trainer/ Compliance Officer, you will:
- Conduct a range of training programs including group and 1 on 1 training sessions.
- Ensure drivers are inducted and trained in Atlas safety processes, including the safe operation of equipment.
- Assess driver competencies as part of pre-employment checks and re-assess current drivers to comply with business requirements and standards.
- Participate in the investigation of any driver incident as requested, implement, and follow up any corrective actions as required.
- Provide training and competency review of all load restraint activities, assume.
- Coordinate and deliver training that enhance the understanding and effectiveness of risk management, safety leadership, hazard reduction and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with NHVR officers meeting their compliance obligations as required under the NHVR requirements.
- To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Transport industry experience is a must for this role
- Experience in Quality Assurance, Compliance, Safety, Risk and Audit
- Experience working with third party service providers and implementing/enforcing practices or procedures.
- Understanding of National Heavy Vehicle regulations, standards, practices, and policies
- Thorough and practical understanding of CoR
- Operational understanding of Risk and Risk Principles in order to contribute administration support to relevant registers.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills.
