Russell, Australia Australian Government Full time

$115,899 - $130,733 + up to 15.4% Superannuation
- Russell - ACT

**The Role**
The Assistant Director Emerging Technology Response (AD ETR) is responsible to the Director Multinational Engagement and is the secretariat for the Emerging Threats and Response Group (ETRG) committee.

AD ETR supports HFI, as the Chair of the ETRG, to understand emerging strategic threats and technologies that are likely to impact the Joint Force by facilitating 4 meetings per year, coordinating presentations and ensuring information workflow into the Strategic Command Group (SCG) and Joint Warfare Council (JWC) and other senior Defence committees.

**About our Team**
The Joint Warfare Directorate is responsible for the ADF Joint Concepts Framework, the Joint Mission Design Framework and Joint Integrated Tactical Procedures.

Joint Warfare Directorate defines the conceptual view of the ADF's warfighting approach and distils this conceptual view into future joint missions. This is the basis for defining the ADF's future force capabilities and requirements.

The joint missions and required solutions are traceable to strategic guidance and draw from all warfighting domains: Land, Sea, Air, Space and Cyber. Distilling the ADF's conceptual thought on warfighting into design guidance, empowers force design decisions and prioritisation.

As the centre for Joint Warfare, the directorate also supports the domain warfare centres, as well as strategic and operational planners, by developing Joint Tactics and Procedures. These provide finer definition of the ADFs warfighting capabilities and serve to confirm the interoperability demands and opportunities against specific tasks and current plans.
- Provide secretariat function to the ETRG, including organising four meetings per year, capturing key outcomes (minutes/outcomes), and maintaining SharePoint site, Objective files, distribution lists and terms of reference.
- Conduct research and liaison in order to identify and understand emerging threats and technologies of a complex strategic multi-domain nature that impact the Joint Force and presentation of results to the ETRG as required.
- Monitor Defence, WoAG and partner nation responses to emerging threats and technologies, which may include critical/sensitive/dual-use/military technology lists, visa screening/restrictions, or other national security measures.
- Co-ordinate/analyse/contribute to concept development and evaluation activities to identify the utility of potential technology solutions to address identified gaps and opportunities, and to inform subsequent development opportunities in support of emerging threats and technologies.
