**The Role**
As an EL 1 Scheduler, you will work in a team with cost estimators and data analysts across a range of projects to develop and analyse life cycle cost estimates. You will assist in building team capability, and develop the quality of schedule analysis undertaken by others in team. You will provide detailed advice in relation to complex work; contribute to strategic planning, program and project management; and design and recommend solutions to issues affecting the achievement of desired outcomes.

The main responsibilities of this role are to:

- Summarise integrated project schedules into analysis schedules;
- Research and discover Schedule Estimation Relationships to use as benchmarks for assessing the deliverability of integrated project schedules;
- Conduct quick look reviews to validate the magnitude of integrated project schedules using probabilistic analysis;
- Develop and maintain a database of activity durations for standard Defence activities;
- Incorporate cost and schedule risk into the analysis model in order to conduct and report on Joint Analysis of Cost and Schedule to inform senior decision makers;
- Develop and use a framework for continuous improvement in schedule estimation and schedule assurance; and
- Create schedules to help manage work efforts within Force Options and Plans branch.

**About our Team**
Force Structure Cost Analysis directorate is the lead for generating initial cost estimates for projects prior to their entry in the Defence Integrated Investment Portfolio. Our primary role is to provide robust, defensible cost estimates and cost assurance to inform decisions about the prioritisation of future Defence Capability, Information and Communications Technology, and Security and Estate projects.

The team supports Force Options and Plans branch to deliver enhanced force design by providing advice to decision makers on the likelihood project cost estimates and schedules are achievable at various stages of the Force Design and Assurance process.

As a member of this team, you will work collaboratively with APS, military and contractor personnel to deliver cost estimation functions to support future force design.
- Has experience as a project/program scheduler AND/OR has a strong STEM background;
- Enjoys research and data collection;
- Had excellent pattern recognition to identify trends in large seemingly un-curated data sets;
- Can apply, or rapidly acquire, understanding of broader Defence policy and strategic objectives;
- Has a demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams, including experience in mentoring/training;
- Demonstrates a sense of curiosity;
- Is IT literate (refer to desirable qualifications, experience or training);
- Is a confident communicator; and
- Is collaborative, agile and effective in managing stakeholder relationships.
