**Position Information**:

- Singleton High School is a large, comprehensive, rural high school catering for Years 7 to 12. The school is situated in the rural/mining sector of the Hunter Valley - approximately 45 minutes from Newcastle suburbs with easy access via the Hunter Expressway. The school has a student population of approximately 1000, including 24% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The Singleton High School expectations are Pride, Respect, Responsibility and Excellence in Learning. Emphasis is on quality teaching and learning, enhancing student achievement and learning outcomes, with a strong commitment to student engagement and attendance. The school promotes a caring and supportive environment, providing programs that cater for students of all abilities and backgrounds. Singleton High School has strong, productive relationships with our partner primary schools. There are high quality Aboriginal programs integral to the school with the support of the KaWul Aboriginal Cultural Resource Centre, established Aboriginal boys and girls programs (Clontarf and Kayu Kumpa) and an active AECG. **Selection Criteria**:
1. Demonstrated capacity to provide inspirational and innovative educational leadership that will drive improvement for a diverse range of students through embedding a whole school approach to a culture of high expectations in teaching and learning.

2. A highly visible leader with demonstrated outstanding interpersonal, communication and skills in systems and processes to manage the complex day to day operations of the school including wellbeing and student behaviour.

3. Demonstrated strong commitment to promote the school within the community and to establish productive partnerships through consultation and collaboration with parents, educational stakeholders, Elders, colleagues and the wider community that will drive improvement for a diverse range of students, including Aboriginal and EALD students.

4. Strong educational leadership with demonstrated knowledge of current policies and curriculum and the skills to develop staff capacity in the delivery of evidence informed practices leading to high quality teaching and learning programs that ensure maximum outcomes by improving student engagement, retention and achievement.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
