**Position Information**:
Mount View High School has a strong tradition of academic, creative and performing arts and sporting success. It has a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum offering which is supported by an Academic Enrichment Program, Leos leadership development program, award winning STEM programs and quality specialist facilities including a Learning and Exhibition and Performance Centre, state of the art gymnasium, GP clinic and a wellbeing hub. The school is recognised statewide as a Lighthouse School for Agriculture. Aboriginal culture is highly valued and the Amarookoba centre provides a facility for tutoring, wellbeing, cultural and mentoring programs for Aboriginal students. Senior students have the benefit of a Senior Study Tutor, Futures Centre and opportunities to explore curricula with local secondary schools and TAFE Campuses.

With a student enrolment of approximately 960 students including 20% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, the school is a proud member of the Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools (CCGPS) and has a close working relationship with the Korreil Wonnai Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. The school has a presence at the Cessnock business Chamber of Commerce contributing to delivering, local community, employment and training opportunities.

The situational analysis identified priorities to develop, improve and extend our student's capabilities and achievement across all stages of learning, drive improved learning outcomes through explicit, consistent and research-informed quality teaching whilst using student assessment data to inform teaching and lastly, to improve wellbeing and engagement by implementing research and evidenced based strategies in a planned approach.

**Selection Criteria**:

- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate effective school systems and management processes to ensure excellence in student welfare, discipline and managing complex situations.
- Visible, approachable, and engaging leadership with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, procedures and practices that maximise support for student success.
- Proven ability to use data and educational research to build a collaborative learning community committed to professional learning and evidence-based practices in a diverse, future focused school.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead and mentor faculty leaders in the development of exemplary classroom teacher practice designed to engage students and lead to ongoing student growth and attainment.
- Proven experience to strategically lead, manage and enhance partnerships with Aboriginal students, families, and their community to promote learning alliances to positively influence the learning outcomes of Aboriginal students.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
