Manager, Business Controls

**How will I help?**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager Business Controls & Monitoring (BCM) role within the Financial Markets Risk Advisory team.

This Manager role within the Financial Markets BCM team is to work with the Senior Manager, Financial Markets BCM, supporting the Business and Consumer Distribution (B&C) business.

The BCM team supports the Financial Markets business to manage its non-financial risks, Regulatory and Industry Obligations through the provision of control expertise and support the business in control design and implementation of key controls. This includes completing root cause analysis of incidents and ensuring appropriate actions are identified and executed by the business to remediate identified issues.

BCM are responsible for evaluating, directing and monitoring first line risk activities in the business to ensure non-financial risk in Financial Markets is kept within risk appetite of the Westpac Group.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Providing input to evaluate non-financial risks for the business and helping to understand control failures or control gaps and assist in the identification of the underlying root causes.
- Support the business to uplift, enhance and simplify key control frameworks that support their product distribution end to end.
- Contribute to the annual Control Self-Assessments (CSA) process to ensure effective business controls and monitoring processes are designed and implemented by Financial Markets - Business and Consumer Distribution business.
- Working closely with business and/or project owners to influence a strong risk culture e.g., conducting risk and control workshops, providing guidance on controls assessments and strategies, overseeing risk remediation activities against appropriate timelines.
- As part of a team of risk professionals you will contribute to ensuring the divisional and business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the Group.
- Provide risk advice in the assessment, root cause analysis and remediation of incidents.
- Provide input into the quality of JUNO records and updates to drive a risk focussed culture.
- Drafting management reports for formal governance forums, making sure risks are articulated clearly and the right information gets to the right people for the right decisions to be made
- Contribute to strategic initiatives to further improve our risk service offering and mature risk and compliance management for the Group
- Proactively share knowledge and experience with others in your team

**What do I need?**
- 2-5 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry
- Experience in controls design and implementation would be favourable
- Knowledge and experience in risk and regulatory landscape, Financial Services business knowledge and operational risk and compliance frameworks
- Ability to build successful relationships across senior executives and peers
- Strong skills in planning, time management and attention to detail
- You will be a strong team player who has a collaborative nature.
- Ability to work under pressure with shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills to assist the business in identifying, analysing and documenting their risks.
