What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for positions in Organisational Performance and Risk & Assurance roles in the Australian Federal Police's (AFP) Strategy and Performance Office (SPO) at the band 4 (Team Member) level.
SPO is focused on ideas, influence and insights and maximises AFP operational impact by translating the agency's strategic intent into whole-of-AFP activity and providing influence with Government and key external stakeholders. SPO plays a critical role in managing enterprise priorities, nurturing strategic thinking into reforms and resourcing, and facilitating strong enterprise decision-making.
Within SPO, the Organisation Performance and Risk & Assurance teams facilitate quality advice and business intelligence to AFP executives.

What will you do?
Organisational Performance
The AFP’s Organisational Performance team is focused on supporting strategic and evidence-based decision-making by AFP executives through the development of the AFP’s Corporate Plans and Annual Reports, and through the proactive evolution of the AFP’s performance framework. Depending on which unit successful applicants join, Organisational Performance team members could be responsible for:
Deploying stakeholder engagement and project management skills in assisting with the coordination and development of key strategic documents (the Corporate Plan and Annual Report).
Assisting in the coordination of the AFP’s Command Assessment Reviews (key internal dialogues between the AFP’s most senior executives)
Leading discrete projects under the guidance of senior team members or the Team Leader, such as qualitative/quantitative analyses and executive-level briefs, in aide of evidence-based decision-making.
Risk and Assurance
The AFP’s Risk and Assurance team is focused on driving a better understanding of what a modern risk framework is and how it is applied to a fast-paced organisation such as the AFP. Policing by its very nature brings with it a wide and varied operational environment which attracts risk. The AFP delivers operational policing outcomes from community level policing, Commonwealth law enforcement, aviation, Commonwealth establishment security, international deployments, and postings. Risk and Assurance team members are responsible for:
assisting in the maintenance and advancement of the AFP Risk Management Framework
engaging with over-the-horizon issues that affects risk and the strategic direction of the AFP
providing tailored, trusted advice on risk and assurance matters, including delivery of risk workshops/presentations
