Pay rate: $42-$53 per hour + super
- Contract: 3 months (possibility for extension)
- Location: Parramatta + WFH

Our government client has an exciting opportunity for a policy professional who has knowledge of natural hazards and either planning or research type skills.

**About the role**
The Policy Planning Officer will work with the Resilience and Urban Sustainability Division and undertakes research, contributes to policy development and contributes data to inform evidence-based policy analysis and advice to develop high quality planning and policy projects, with the support of managers and senior staff.

**Key accountabilities**
- Undertake straight forward research tasks, analyse and evaluate issues and data to formulate appropriate responses to contribute to options for the resolution of new and emerging issues.
- Prepare relevant Departmental documentation, such as briefing notes, responses to correspondence, project reports and legislative drafting instructions.
- Support the Senior Manager and Director to build and maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance engagement, consultation and negotiation on the team’s policy program.
- Support staff and managers to manage work performed by external contractors and consultants to achieve project objectives.

**Essential requirements**
- Degree in planning, public policy or any other related field.
- Experience providing well-researched and balanced information in a high-volume environment with competing priorities and tight timeframes.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team and to contribute to project delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
