Superintendent - Ug Mining

This role of Superintendent is to provide technical, planning and methodology advice for all aspects of the underground mine whilst developing operational plans. The remit of the role also covers mining and technical deliverables and developing, managing and implementing them. As a Superintendent you will also be tasked with the development of staff, their progress and their training effectiveness. Direct reports would be Senior Engineers, Engineers, Geo Engineers and Planning Engineers. As a Senior team member, you will be required to carry out statutory duties in the absence of the Mine Manager.

**The Role / Duties**

This role of Superintendent is to provide technical, planning and methodology advice for all aspects of the underground mine whilst developing operational plans. Direct reports would be Senior Engineers, Engineers, Geo Engineers and Planning Engineers. As a Senior team member, you will be required to carry out statutory duties in the absence of the Mine Manager.
- Ensure safety compliance is adhered to
- Develop and maintain safe at work procedures with a view to minimise accidents
- Ensure inspections are completed regularly with clear reporting
- Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations
- Implementation of effective rehab programs
- Provide expert advice into mine designs and schedules
- Controlling costs
- Provide support to achieve budgets and targets within the mine
- Co-ordinate production personnel effectively
- Establish short and mid term plans and targets and managing the process to achieve them
- Monitor management of air, water and waste disposal
- Manage the team effectively through strong leadership

**Skills & Experience**

Alongside the bullet points below, I would look for someone that has specific underground mining experience and has worked in a similar position. You would have to have strong leadership skills and have an advance ability to problem solve, plan and execute a vision. Working across departments to ensure the effective and productive running of the mine is paramount so I would look for someone that has the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders in an efficient but personable manner.

- WA first class mine manager's certificate
- Advanced Surpac skills
- Advanced Deswik skills
- Personnel Management and keeping the team upbeat and happy
- Mine rescue and first aid (ideally)
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal skills (interviewing and recruiting)
- Qualification in Mining Engineering
- Sound communication skills
- Strong understanding of financial outcomes and ability to meet critical deadlines
- The ability to think on your feet and adapt to different situations
