The Media Relations Manager will be focused on the company's engagement with the media and lead a communication team of two.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Develops a proactive Media Relations plan which supports Corporate Communications and Media strategy
- Executes all media/public relations components of the Programs of Work developed by the Marketing and Communications
- Proactively monitors daily news media relevant to the industry, seizing every available opportunity - and creating new opportunities
- Prepares in advance position statements (pre-emptive)
- Assists spokespeople and executives on best practices in media engagement, so they are well-prepared to engage positively and productively with the media
- Compiles and distributes daily media coverage reports; quarterly sentiment and coverage analysis for Marketing Leadership’s review.
- Management and responsibility for maintaining an up-to-date Case study/talent database.
- “Ghost writes” key communications in support of executives (e.g. key speeches, public statements).

**Skills & Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations /Journalism or a closely-related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in media relations, with significant issues management experience.
- 2+ years as team leader or manager
- Significant demonstrated expertise in proactively creating media opportunities in support of organisational objectives.
