My client is an energy provider who manufactures machinery and equipment that produces energy solutions for the marine transport industry. They provide industrial engines, rotating equipment and after-sales support through over 140 locations around the world.
They are a world leading supplier of propulsion systems to the marine industry, offering a broad range of marine products and services that feature on the world’s largest ships, along with a diverse range of smaller craft. Their engines, generators, propellers and hybrid systems are found in cruise liners, merchant ships, offshore vessels, tug boats, navy ships, passenger ferries and many other types of vessel.
The client is looking for an experienced Aftersales Manager to assist in securing sales of their aftermarket products and services to repair and upgrade ageing engines of heavy and industrial-sized vessels.
**Your new role**
**OBJECTIVES**:
- Develop and implement account management and business development for aftersales - with their own range of engines on vessels in the company's Omnicare programme, but also of other OEM's ageing equipment.
- Development of contract proposals, tenders and bids for aftersales opportunities and long term operation and maintenance services in alignment with the Integrated Management System
- Account management of End-Users and Contractors engaged in the service and maintenance contracts of fleets of vessels.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
***Account management of aftersales with End-Users ranging from cruise liners, merchant ships, offshore vessels, tug boats, navy ships, passenger ferries, as well as any Contractors that service and maintain vessels - like the Primes in the Defence industry.
- Participate in sales and marketing of aftersales products and associated services
- Undertake customer and site visits with teams of Service Engineers in order to sell and expand the range of services under the company's Omnicare brand and complimentary service products
- Prepare tenders and quotations for service including Operate& Maintain (O&M) opportunities
- Assist in formulating long and short term sales strategy by conducting market analysis and preparing market insights as well as information about competitors
- Maintain the CRM system and a regular call cycle to ensure the highest standard of product support to customers is maintained at all times.
**To be considered for this role you will need**:
- Proven sales success in positioning and securing long cycle service and maintenance sales and aftermarket products
- Ability to clearly present advanced technical concepts and solutions to a range of stakeholders
- Strong negotiation skills and experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Intermediate level competence with MS Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability and willingness to travel and be away from home (approx. 30 - 50 days of the year
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency
**Qualifications, skills and experience considered highly desirable for the role are**:
- Tertiary engineering or trade qualification: preferred technical maritime background; ex-navy officers with sales mindset/experience will be considered as well.
- Sound technical understanding of diesel and / or dual-fuel engines;
- Knowledge and experience of the marine industry and, in particular, naval architecture or vessel propulsion;
- Experience selling complex electro-mechanical systems;
- Experience selling to the defence industry and their Prime Contractors aligned with the AUSDEFCON contracting arrangements.
