Where a non-ongoing specified term is offered, this would be for an initial period of up to 12 months, with possibility of extension up to a maximum period of two years.

A non-ongoing offer may result in conversion to an ongoing offer of employment, however this must occur within 18 months from the opening date of this advertisement.

**Who we are**

This position sits within the PM&C Security Section. The team plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of Executive Government and supports key departmental deliverables. The team is agile and works in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment. The team often faces unique problems and relies on innovative and creative problem-solving to meet stakeholder requirements.

**What you will do**

The Security Adviser role provides critical support to senior Commonwealth and Government officials both within Australian Parliament House and other sites around Australia.

In the Security Adviser role, you will be primarily responsible for the operations within the Parliament House Briefing Room (PHBR) and includes the provision of bespoke information security solutions and the operation of a range of communications equipment. This equipment is designed to provide Cabinet and the office of the Prime Minister with real-time access to sensitive and classified information.

You will also be required to accompany official travelling parties overseas and domestically to ensure information security and secure communications support is on hand. Further, staff are required to undertake ad-hoc after hours work and participate in an on-call roster.
