**Our Opportunity**:
We are looking for someone to fill a non-ongoing role for a period of up to 6 months with the possibility of extension. We may also create a merit pool to fill either ongoing or non-ongoing vacancies that may arise.

The Physical Security Advisor will have a detailed knowledge of Australian Government physical security policies and procedures and be proficient with security infrastructure including electronic access control, closed circuit TV, and alarm monitoring security systems in a corporate government environment, to manage physical security operations.

The role works within a busy small team environment, operating with a significant level of autonomy and a flexible, efficient, and adaptable approach to deliver security services and outcomes.

The role is expected to work collaboratively to build relationships with external security service providers to manage the provision of security services and to meet compliance obligations and the requirements of IP Australia. A key focus of the role is continuous improvement, continually monitoring the threat environment and recommending risk proportionate initiatives to build IP Australia’s security preparedness. Working with the Agency Security Adviser or delegate the role ensures IP Australia complies with the requirements of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework and IP Australia’s Security Policy and procedures.

**Job specific capabilities**:
The right person for this role will:
Co-ordinate physical security requirements for Discovery House including:

- Electronic Access Control Systems
- Security hardware, including restricted keying systems
- Key safes, including individual keys
- Secure containers (safes)
- SCEC approved paper shredding machines
- Secure destruction services (bins)
- Review and advise on security zone requirements in accordance with the PSPF to maintain ongoing certification and accreditation of facilities at Discovery House
- Co-ordinate security system upgrades and physical security projects
- Perform routine inspections/assurance reviews relating to physical security at IP Australia facilities and complete related reports and recommendations and track the implementation of any approved solutions
- Develop and implement security documentation and training packages
- Provide physical security risk management updates for IP Australia’s Security Governance Committee’s reports (including PSPF maturity assessments)
- Co-ordinate security infrastructure maintenance, including regular preventative maintenance
- Liaise with IP Australia’s sub-tenants about shared physical security requirements
- Supervise security contractors and works for completion at Discovery House and support MIPO security delegate in their supervision requirements
- Conduct security risk assessments and provide recommendations for security infrastructure maintenance or upgrades
- Undertake ongoing procurement activities for maintaining IP Australia’s security infrastructure and services
- Conduct routine visitor management assurance activities including review of registers and database entry
- Support the Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) members in the conduct of drills, exercises and training days, including providing physical assistance and participating in analysis and review activities and identification of areas for improvement
- Provide input into a range of reporting mechanisms relating to security governance, insider threat, security incident management and security guarding contract performance
- Assist with monitoring and addressing performance of the contracted Security Guarding supplier
- During IP Australia business hours, provide backup support and advice to security guarding personnel to address gaps in service provision
- Act as Duty Officer on rotation and as required for “after hours” response and emergency coverage.
