We are currently working in with a large State Government department. We are looking for an AO7 Principal Finance Officer (Budget and Financial Management) a 6-month contract with possible extension. This is an exciting senior role for someone with a strong experience around financial management, budgets, financial modelling, and analysis.

About the role:
As a Principal Finance Officer within Budget and Financial Management, you will have extensive and demonstrated experience at a senior level in financial management, financial modelling, and financial analysis. Your experience will enable you to confidently implement change management practices and strategic approaches and solutions to complex accounting and financial management issues.

Responsibilities will include:

- Lead and coordinate the implementation of various financial management projects and reviews, including financial analysis, activity-based costing, financial modelling, cost versus benefit analysis and reviews of fees and charges across the department.
- Undertake financial management analysis, modelling and evaluation of the department’s financial data and reporting requirements to inform recommendations and solutions.
- Promote the implementation of change management practices, including changes to business processes and procedures to achieve project objectives.
- Prepare and present performance reports, project documents, briefing notes, evaluations, advice, and recommendations to stakeholders in accordance with milestones and objectives.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects on time and in accordance with agreed projects deliverables and quality standards.

Essential Criteria:

- Must have Government experience.
- Accounting qualifications, along with possession of relevant CPA, ICAA, or MIPA membership.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and adaptability skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent attention to detail.
