We are currently working in partnership with a State Government department. They are looking to recruit a PO4 Principal Finance Officer to assist the Manager Finance with ensuring the accuracy of financial information and facilitating the timely financial and statutory reporting.

About the role:
Are you a finance professional looking for a leadership position? This state government department is looking for an accounting professional who can demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communication skills as well as leadership abilities. You will have a strong finance background and have the ability to identify and analyse new and alternate approaches to performing business activities.

Responsibilities will include:

- Actively manage and provide guidance to direct reports, including monitoring performance of the staff.
- Month end accounting responsibilities, including preparation of journals and management of the fixed asset register.
- Prepare the Business Activity Statements and Fringe Benefit Taxation returns for lodgment within required timeframes.
- Assist with the production of accurate statutory and internal financial management reports, including the notes to the annual financial statements.

About you:

- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline e.g. commerce or accountancy, and CPA or CA qualified.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 5 years+ experience in a finance role, financial accounting ideal.
- Experience in providing leadership to and management of a team highly desired.
- Ability to participate as a member of a team.
