We are currently seeking a Payroll Advisor to join our team at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) in Newstead. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment within a small, dedicated team of three staff members.

You will play a key role in managing NHVR’s outsourced payroll function, supporting the administration of three separate pay calendars per fortnight for a workforce of **1**,000 employees**, ensuring compliance with both enterprise agreements and common law contracts. This role is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail, a positive attitude, and a passion for continuous improvement.

**What You’ll Be Doing**

As the Payroll Advisor, you will be responsible for mitigating payroll process risks and ensuring data accuracy and governance in our outsourced payroll model.

**Primary Objectives**
- Ensure accurate employee data for payroll processing.
- Provide governance oversight of NHVR’s outsourced payroll provider.
- Administer internal payroll-related processes and support employees.
- Deliver accurate data for monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Promote a safe work environment in line with WHS policies.
- Manage NHVR’s responsibilities within the outsourced payroll model across three pay calendars.
- Validate employee profiles during onboarding and ensure timely offboarding.
- Administer regular payroll activities: leave, superannuation, allowances, increments, and agreement updates.
- Review pay runs to ensure timesheet compliance and pay accuracy.
- Handle payroll queries from managers and employees.
- Audit banking processes and general ledger payments.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements (PAYG, Payroll Tax, Super).
- Maintain up-to-date payroll records and manage the provider’s service against SLAs.
- Reconcile payroll and resolve discrepancies.
- Support audits and maintain records in line with legislative obligations.
- Close out non-compliant timesheets with internal teams and the provider.

- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Sound numeracy and analytical skills.
- Experience working with outsourced payroll providers, enterprise agreements, and common law contracts.
