**The Opportunity**
We are working with a Victorian State Government Department, assisting them to manage a large and complex portfolio of work and we ae looking for a Finance Analyst with strong communication skills, finance and monthly reporting skills to join our team.
Working within the IT Department and working with the Project and Program Management you will be responsible for tracking and reporting on monthly costs including accruals against budget for the portfolio, provide monthly finance reporting and putting together financials for proposed project funding.
Specific tasks will include:
- Overseeing and performing the monthly accounting for projects for the Corporate & Delivery Services portfolio and ultimately closure of those projects
- Supporting new bid proposals to the Victorian Government for initiatives critical for Department’s customers and stakeholders
- Supporting the tracking and reporting of KPIs to assess project and portfolio performance against budget
- Creating project accounting templates and month end processing steps for project management to follow and support project management with forecasts
- Working with vendors and other stakeholders for accruals, depreciation and amortisation of project costs
- Supporting general project cost recording, reporting, resource tracking, support project management
- Identifying and managing project accounting related risks and issues and escalating where required.
To qualify for this excellent opportunity you will be able to demonstrate:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in an IT project management environment including overseeing the month end tracking of costs and reporting for multiple projects.
- Solid communication skills (both written and verbal), excellent stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong familiarity with month end procedures and processes to record and report project progress
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Good understanding of project management principles and practices, including project reporting using common tools. Experience with Zeno, Microsoft Project, or similar project portfolio management software
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and work with autonomy
- Experience in engaging vendors and project management personnel to capture costs (including accruals) to accurately record in correct accounting period
- Experience with blanket purchase orders and contracts over multiple delivery periods to ensure proper cost allocation.
- Victorian Government funding proposals (or bids) to secure government funding and this may be sourced from multiple funding points for an initiative would be highly regarded.
